National Poetry Day
On Thursday 4th October, the children at SJSJ took part in celebrating National Poetry Day with workshops and assemblies run by famous poet, Stephen Henderson. During the assemblies the children used their body parts to create sound effects which mirrored the beat of the poems and then joined in with his performances. Later on in the day, Stephen went on to carry out some workshops across Year 6. The children used the simile ‘My school is like…’ and wrote poems all about their school life.
On Friday morning, the children then performed poems that they had been learning throughout the week in our celebration assembly. A big well done to all of the children – the performances were amazing!
