Digital literacy is a key skill that all children at SJSJ develop throughout their time here. As an elected digital leader you will help to support the development of digital literacy across the school. Through supporting classmates with using coding software to helping promote use of processing software across the year groups. Digital leaders are key members of the school community that are able to highlight the importance of being responsible online users. This is done by running workshops and competitions about online safety across the year as well as conducting surveys to assess the use of devices across the school. Digital leaders also support the use of digital equipment across the school, ensuring that iPads and laptops are used correctly and respectfully.
These are our Digital Leaders for this academic year:
Miss Thomson is our Digital Leaders steering group lead. She will be working closely with our Digital Leaders over the coming months. Keep an eye out for updates of their work in the school newsletter and on the website.
Throughout the Autumn term, the Digital Leaders focused on the importance of using technology safely. We thought about our top tips that we would give to anyone who felt unsafe online or were unsure about what to do. We also looked at the class floor books and discussed what we had been learning in our year group computing lessons. Looking at the links between units and learning about what is still to come.
This half term, the Digital leaders will be focusing on Safer Internet day 2023. This year’s theme is called:
Inspiring change? Making a difference, managing influence and navigating change online and takes place on the 6th February. As a school we will be undertaking activities as a part of Safer Internet day and the digital leaders will be leading classroom discussions about what this means and what it looks like in practice. We will also be holding an assembly discussing even more about this and what we have done as a school.
