Message From Miss Gladstone
I can hardly believe we’ve reached the end of another academic year at SJSJ! Time has flown, and it’s been a joy to watch all of our children grow—not only in height, but in confidence, independence, and character. We are so incredibly proud of every single child. The kindness, resilience, curiosity, and enthusiasm they bring into school each day create a wonderful atmosphere that makes SJSJ such a special place for everyone in our community. Their individual qualities truly shine through, and they each contribute in their own unique way to the life of our school.
Thank you to our children for their hard work, their efforts, and simply for being themselves. You are all truly special. To our dedicated staff—thank you for your tireless commitment and passion. You are the heartbeat of SJSJ, always going the extra mile to champion and support our children in every way possible. Your efforts make all the difference. And to our lovely parents and carers — thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and dedication. The strong partnership between home and school is what helps our children thrive, and we are deeply grateful for all you do.
Wishing you all a wonderful summer full of rest, fun, and memory-making. May it be a time of joy, good health, and happiness. We look forward to welcoming you back in September, ready for another exciting year ahead!
Message to Year 6
Today is a day of mixed emotions—for you, for your families, and for all of us here at SJSJ. It marks the end of your primary school journey, and while we’re so proud and excited for everything that lies ahead for you, we will miss you deeply. You have been a truly special year group. Over the years, we’ve watched you grow into kind, resilient, thoughtful, and confident young people. You’ve led the school with such maturity, positivity, and compassion—setting an example for others to follow. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, in performances or on the athletics field, you’ve shown courage, creativity, and care. We couldn’t be prouder of the incredible individuals you’ve become.
As you move on to your new schools, we know you’ll take all the wonderful qualities you’ve developed at SJSJ with you. There will be new faces, new challenges, and exciting opportunities—but please remember, no matter where you go or how far you travel, you will always be part of the SJSJ family. This will always be your school, and you will always be welcome here.
Thank you for everything you’ve brought to our community—the laughter, the energy, the curiosity, and the kindness. You leave behind memories that we will treasure, and a legacy that will continue to inspire.Go forward with pride. Be brave, be kind, and most importantly—be yourself. With all our love and very best wishes,
The staff at SJSJ

Great Hackney Libraries Quest Is Back!
The Great Hackney Libraries Quest – Hackney’s very own answer to the Summer Reading Challenge – is back with a bang this summer with the theme: Let’s Play! Children and young people of all ages can register and take part at any Hackney Library, and collect a stamper booklet.
From 19 July – 12 September they can collect stamps for reading books, taking part in our fun creative sessions, using a computer, creative writing, visiting the Hackney Museum and Hackney Archives – and more! There are 100 free events taking place in our libraries all summer and they can’t wait to welcome families.
Plastic Competition
We wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has brought in PP5 plastic over the last week in support of our plastic competition. We’ve already filled one huge bag of plastic and have another on the way!
Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm in helping us be more sustainable as a school.
SJSJ Padlet
Hackney has a range of services and activities to support all children, particularly those with SEND, in and out of term time. Navigating the support can sometimes be overwhelming and difficult to find the right service at the right time.
Please follow the link below to the St John and St James SEND Padlet which is regularly refreshed with a huge variety of services and information. This ranges from parent groups, to advice lines to strategies you can use at home to support communication. Please follow the links available and it will direct you to the appropriate website.
Please note that whilst some services are for children with SEND, there are a wide range of support networks on the padlet available for all children and families.
If you know of any services which are not listed on the padlet, please let the office or Mr Watson know and we will update it.
