Welcome Back Welcome back, everyone! I hope you all had a great half term. It was so lovely to see all of the children, with big smiles on their faces, on Monday morning ready for another great half term at school. They have made a...
On the Friday 8th March we will be celebrating our love of reading with World Book Day. All children are invited to dress up as either their favourite book character or if this is a little tricky, children can wear their pyjamas as part of a bedtime story costume.
Our theme this year is…
Traditional Tales!
On the day, we will have a Jack and the Beanstalk workshop which will be delivered by West End in Schools and fun activities in class to celebrate our love for reading!
We look forward to seeing some lovely World Book Day work and costumes from children.
Please ensure your child comes to school with spare school shoes/trainers if they are wearing wellington boots.
This is a health and safety concern as children are having accidents throughout the day whilst wearing wellington boots.
To plant seeds in recycled products as part of recycling day, the Green Team would be very appreciative if you could keep any plastic bottles you no longer need (with the lids on) and bring them to the school office please.
We will then use these as pots to plant our seeds!
What is ‘WAMHS’?
The ‘Wellbeing and mental health in schools’ project is a joint initiative between the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and Hackney Education. The goal with this is to enable mental health staff and teaching staff to work together in improving the wellbeing of children in the
borough. See below for what is on offer at St John and St James.
Hello! I am Dr Joe Vacher and I am a Clinical Psychologist. I am very excited to be working with the school every other Monday, in which I will be the ‘CAMHS Worker in School’ (“CWIS”) supporting the WAMHS project. Whilst I will not be providing direct interventions, my role will include:
With this whole-school approach, we really hope that the wellbeing of every member of the St John & St James’ community will be nurtured in every aspect of school life.
Hi! My name is Olivia Lumsden and I am an Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP). I currently work within the school on Tuesday
afternoons and work closely with the CWIS and Designated Mental Health Lead (DMHL) to help provide support for children and parents. My role includes:
Upcoming events
Introductory Coffee Morning at St John and St James – Monday 11th March at 9.00 – 9.45am.
An opportunity for you to meet Joseph and find out all about the WAMHS project at St John and St James.
This will also be an opportunity to discuss further any themes of parent groups.
The Hackney RE calendar competition has commenced for 2024-25. Last year, over 100 entries were submitted, thank you to all children who participated.
The calendar is sent to every school in Hackney and is a celebration of RE teaching and learning in our schools. It also includes important dates of upcoming religious festivals and secular commemorations. These help schools to plan assemblies and collective worship. It also aims to support pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development beyond the Religious Education classroom.
All the artwork is selected through a borough-wide poster competition, which is open to all pupils across KS1 and KS3 in Hackney schools.
This year’s Religion and Worldview theme is on ‘Unity’. This theme aims to celebrate diversity and unity within the Hackney community. It also supports Hackney’s ‘No place for hate’ campaign.
