Year 6 Basketball Team
Well done to the Year 6 basketball team for securing 3rd place in the Borough competition.
The team’s performances saw them top their group with 0 losses, with their only loss coming in the semi final. The team were able to pick themselves back up to gain a victory in the 3rd/4th place game.
Nursery Writing Sample
As part of our mark making activity this week, linked to our literacy text ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ children created a story map by reciting the story through illustration.
First we identified the main character, the story setting and what happened first, next and last.
Hackney Half Marathon
Oh how time flies! 3 weeks in and despite some sore and tired legs, half marathon is going extremely well! Both runners are building up the miles and ensuring they look after themselves in between runs.
They are running in aid of their chosen charities Mind (Miss Gedney) Cancer Research UK (Mr Watson.)
Thank you all for your donations so far, they are greatly appreciated! If you would like to make a donation, this has been assigned to your child’s ParentPay account. Please note that any donation will be split between the two charities.
Hackney RE Calendar Competition
The Hackney RE calendar competition has commenced for 2024-25. Last year, over 100 entries were submitted, thank you to all children who participated.
The calendar is sent to every school in Hackney and is a celebration of RE teaching and learning in our schools. It also includes important dates of upcoming religious festivals and secular commemorations. These help schools to plan assemblies and collective worship. It also aims to support pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development beyond the Religious Education classroom.
All the artwork is selected through a borough-wide poster competition, which is open to all pupils across KS1 and KS3 in Hackney schools.
This year’s Religion and Worldview theme is on ‘Unity’. This theme aims to celebrate diversity and unity within the Hackney community. It also supports Hackney’s ‘No place for hate’ campaign.
Entries:
Please note ALL entries (originals only should:
- Be on A4 landscape, preferably on coloured paper
- Use strong/bold colours – i.e felt pens or paints, rather than pale pencils
- Be clearly labelled with pupil’s names, school and year group (please put this information on the back)
- Preferably have no writing on the poster (labels, titles, names etc)
The closing date for this competition is Friday 26th April 2024 and all entries should be sent to:
