As you all know, we have had our Ofsted inspection this week.

Thank you to all of the parents and carers for their kind words and support over the past few days – it is much appreciated and has not gone unnoticed.

The children have been, as always, absolutely wonderful nod have made us all incredibly proud; it has been a pleasure to show our inspectors how amazing they are and how much they love to learn!
The staff have worked extremely hard and we look forward to sharing the report and grading with you once it has been completed in approximately 6 weeks time.

Year 6 SATs

From Monday, our Year 6 pupils will be undertaking their KS2 SATs assessments.
We are so incredibly proud of their dedication, commitment and mature attitude they have shown throughout the year and wish them the best of luck next week.
They are completely prepared and we have every confidence they will do their best, as always.
Wishing them all an enjoyable and restful weekend!

Mental Health Awareness Week and Wear it Green Day

Monday 13th May 2024 will kick off Mental Health Awareness Week!

During the week, every class will be taking part in daily activities to raise awareness of mental health, appreciating and recognising good mental health but also learning how to support ourselves and others when difficult times arise.

On Friday 17th May, all children will be invited to take part in ‘Wear it Green Day!’ By wearing green, we will be raising awareness and turning the world green for good mental health!

There is no obligation to donate for ‘Wear it Green Day!’ however Miss Gedney is running the Hackney Half Marathon for the mental health charity ‘Mind’ and if you would like to make a contribution to that, please feel free to do so at the office or on ParentPay.

Summer Safety

With the sunshine now starting to appear, please be reminded that all children must continue to wear closed in shoes to school for health and safety reasons.
Please also ensure your child has had sun cream applied before school and bring a sun hat with them to protect themselves whilst in the playground.

Deaf Awareness Week

This week we have celebrated ‘Deaf Awareness Week’.
All children learned how to represent each letter of the alphabet and how to say their name using British Sign Language.
It has been a pleasure to see the children engage with these activities and we hope they continue to use their new skills!

Pre-Loved Sale

Next Friday, we will be holding a pre-loved sale, where you can purchase amazing pre-loved items! We would really appreciate it if you have any of the following that you would like to donate to the sale:

  • Toys
  • Teddies
  • Books
  • School Uniform
  • Games

If you have anything you’d like to donate to the sale, please bring them to the Office by Wednesday 15th May.

Year 3 Writing Sample

This half term, Year 3 have been writing persuasive speeches on why deforestation should be avoided and the disastrous impact it’s having on our planet. Take a look at some of the fantastic paragraphs children have written!

The Earth’s lungs are being broken by your poor actions. Did you know that 20% of our oxygen comes from rainforests? Carbon dioxide is a harmful greenhouse gas that is released into our beloved atmosphere everytime a tree is cut down. This causes the Earth to warm up and contribute to global warming. We are carelessly increasing global warming and all I have to say is, we can stop this!

I am here to tell you that this is diabolical! We must stop these inhumane actions. Animals all around the world starve to death because of deforestation. The government needs to rethink their decisions. I am disgusted.

Hackney Half Marathon

It feels like yesterday that I was sat here writing about how the training block had just begun and here we are with just over one week to go until race day! The next week will consist of slow short runs, carb loading and a lot of rest to ensure the legs are fresh for Sunday!

Thank you again to everyone who has donated so far! We really appreciate not only the donations but the words of encouragement and support you have been giving us over the past few weeks.

We are running in aid of our chosen charities Mind (Miss Gedney) Cancer Research UK (Mr Watson.)
