Communication
As you already know, we are trying to be more sustainable as a school, and reduce our carbon footprint.
We have already moved to using the mailing system to communicate as much as possible and this will now be extending.
From now on, all trip letters and class newsletters will also be sent out electronically.
Please check that the school email address is an approved contact to prevent anything going into your junk mailbox.
School Hours
Please be reminded that the school day starts at 8:55am.
The gate will be open at 8:50am and then promptly closed at 9.00am. Any latecomers will need to enter the school via the main office where parents will be asked to sign their child in and record the reason for being late.
NSPCC Number Day
SJSJ celebrated NSPCC Number Day.
Green Team
Over the last few weeks, the Green Team has been conducting an environmental review of our school.
The review outlines key areas we should focus on, such as litter, waste, biodiversity and energy.
As a team, we reviewed each area, giving it a score out of 10 for how much we do to promote it across our school. We identified biodiversity as an area that we would love to develop.
As a result, over the next couple of weeks, the Green Team will be creating a plan that will be implemented throughout the spring and summer terms to enhance biodiversity across our school and within our local community.
Reception Writing Sample
Children in reception have been working on understanding characters and beginning to explore character voice.
They used their phonics knowledge to write what the predators in the Gruffalo might be thinking about the little mouse walking through the woods.
Nursery
Application forms for our school Nursery are available at all times from the school office.
If you have a child who is under 3, and therefore not ready to start just yet, you are encouraged to complete the form at your earliest convenience so they can be added to the waiting list.
ISingPop
This week 7 lucky children preformed with ISingPop and other schools from around Hackney.
They had the opportunity to sing in front of the Arch Bishop of Canterbury, he got up and danced with the children. What a joy!!!
Online Safety
What are parental controls?
Parental controls allow you to block and filter upsetting or inappropriate content. They work across your WiFi, phone network, individual apps and devices. Parental controls can help you to:
- plan what time of day your child can go online and how long for
- create content filters to block apps that may have inappropriate content
- Manage the content different family members can see.
Mobiles, tablets and computers
All mobiles, tablets and computers have parental control settings, which can differ between devices, these include:
- Allowing or disallowing in-game or in-app purchases
- Settings such as location settings and what information your child is sharing
- Wellbeing settings to help with limiting screen time.
You can get more advice about setting up controls on different devices from your mobile provider and the UK Safer Internet Centre.
On Apple devices such as iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV etc. there are features available for parents all tied into an account. You can set content and privacy restrictions, prevent purchases, allow or disallow apps and more.
If you need any help setting up parental controls on your child’s phone, please come and ask Miss Forman.
Young Voices 2024
