Communication
As you already know, we are trying to be more sustainable as a school, and reduce our carbon footprint.
We have already moved to using the mailing system to communicate as much as possible and this will now be extending.
From now on, all trip letters and class newsletters will also be sent out electronically.
Please check that the school email address is an approved contact to prevent anything going into your junk mailbox.
School Hours
Please be reminded that the school day starts at 8:55am.
The gate will be open at 8:50am and then promptly closed at 9.00am. Any latecomers will need to enter the school via the main office where parents will be asked to sign their child in and record the reason for being late.
NSPCC Number Day
On Friday 2nd February, SJSJ will be celebrating NSPCC Number Day. All children will be encouraged to dress up as a number, or something maths related!
This could be wearing a birthday badge with an age, this could be wearing a football shirt with a number on the back, this could be wearing something with a repeated pattern or containing geometric shapes. The possibilities are endless!
We look forward to seeing how creative our school can be…
Apollo Music
Next week, Year 4 will have the pleasure of beginning their sessions with Apollo Music who make up an orchestral ensemble.
All children will have the privilege of a whole school assembly, led by Apollo Music, where they will hear live music and be introduced to different types of instruments.
Nursery
Application forms for our school Nursery are available at all times from the school office.
If you have a child who is under 3, and therefore not ready to start just yet, you are encouraged to complete the form at your earliest convenience so they can be added to the waiting list.
Wraparound Care
Thank you to everyone who completed the form.
We have had a great response and are now in the next stage of consultation. We will provide updates soon.

Online Safety
What are parental controls?
Parental controls allow you to block and filter upsetting or inappropriate content. They work across your WiFi, phone network, individual apps and devices. Parental controls can help you to:
- plan what time of day your child can go online and how long for
- create content filters to block apps that may have inappropriate content
- Manage the content different family members can see.
Games Consoles Most games consoles have internet access, which means your child can go online and chat with other players or make in-game purchases. On many consoles, there are parental controls, which allow you to manage which features are available to your child. On some devices, you can:
- turn off chat functions to stop your child from talking to people they don’t know
- restrict games based on age
- turn off in-game purchases, or set a limit.
Check the website for the console your child has for a parents section and details of features. Some games also allow you to change settings for that individual game.
PlayStation Family Management
On PlayStation consoles, you can set up a Family Manager account, which allows you to manage different accounts for different children/users. Within this, you can manage a range of features, such as restricting communication with other players, restricting content, setting playtime controls and set spending limits.
