26 Jan What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 3
In their most recent writing cycle, Year 6 have been taking inspiration from the story of Macbeth by William Shakespeare. The children unpicked the language used in the text and thought carefully about how this impacted the reader. They then used the main ideas across the first few scenes to create a poem about the arrival of the three witches and the spell that they cast upon Macbeth.
Shannon and Dexter worked incredibly well together to create an amazing stanza, with a consistent rhyming pattern:
When shall those three meet again?
In thunder, lightning or in rain?
Surrounded by the bright, shiny lights,
The three pale-faced hags give a fright,
As they bar their way as a trio,
They look for Macbeth – friend or foe.
Who knows? Everybody has to know,
The witches come to let Macbeth follow,
“All Hail Macbeth!” they chant and moan,
With an ugly, nasty tone.
The children really blossomed in creativity when putting their poems together. After editing, they then performed snippets of them to the class. Scan the QR codes to listen to some of the children’s performances!
