Year 6
A huge well done to all of our Year 6 children who completed their SATs this week. They came in each day with a smile on their faces, a positive and mature attitude and couldn’t have made us any prouder.
Regardless of the outcomes, you have all made incredible progress this year and should be extremely proud of yourselves.
Shine your halos!!
Summer Safety
With the sun now starting to make an appearance (well, sometimes), please be reminded that all children must continue to wear closed in shoes to school for health and safety reasons; sandals are not to be worn.
Please also ensure that your child has had sun cream applied before school starts and they bring a sun hat with them to protect themselves during break and lunchtimes.
Art Week
Next week at SJSJ, we will be having our final ‘Art Week’ of this academic year.
The focus this time is on sculpture and we are confident the children are going to love their learning.
Keep an eye out for the shared area displays to see what they create!
PTA Plant and Book Sale
Another big thank you to the PTA for the recent plant and book sales. They have both been a great success and a significant amount of money has been raised; all of which benefits the children of the school and for that we are extremely grateful.
The Usborne books the school has received are incredible and we can’t wait to see the children enjoying them.
Year 4’s Writing Sample
Year 4 have been have been writing diary entries based on our text Other Words for Home. Take a look at what Ayaz has written…
Dear Diary,
Thinking about the future terrifies me. I wonder are things going to be the same for me and my brother Issa! He is my best friend in the whole world, the person who makes me laugh, and the person who makes me happy.
Walking home from a long day of school, I contemplated how life was going to unfold. My big brother looked at me with concern in his eyes. “What’s bothering you Jude?” he asked. I couldn’t find the right words to express my fears – fears of not fitting in, fears of never seeing my family again, fears of losing everything I hold dear.
Sitting by the calm, peaceful river, watching the clear, glittering waves, thoughts were spinning round in my head. Thoughts of how much I missed my brother and how much he was changing- just like our country. Issa held my hand and gave me a reassuring look. As the sun was setting, I found comfort in his presence. He whispered into my ear, “Everything will be ok.”
Contemplating the future and wondering what it may be, one thing I know. One thing is crystal clear.
My amazing brother will always be by my side, guiding me through. The future may be uncertain but Issa will always be a constant. As we walked home, the weight on my shoulders began to lift. We can get through this I thought. As long as we are together.
