RSE
After half term, the children will start to complete their ‘Changing me’ unit of the JIGSAW PSHE curriculum where the compulsory RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) lessons will be taught.
An overview with the objectives in each year group has already been sent to you via email, with the lessons parents can choose to opt their children out of highlighted in red.
To support parents with understanding what the content covered looks like, we will be hosting sessions after half term for parents to attend where the lessons the children will be engaging with will be shared.
The dates and times for these sessions are as follows:
Year 1 and Year 2 – Monday 3rd June at 3pm
Year 3 and Year 4 – Tuesday 4th June at 3pm
Year 5 and Year 6 – Wednesday 5th June at 3pm
If you would like to attend, please contact the school office directly to book a space.
Once again, we would like to reassure parents that these lessons are science based and the purpose of them is to educate the children and encourage them to use correct age-appropriate terminology.
Green Team
Last week, the Green Team held their second pre-loved sale of the academic year.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for bringing in donations towards the sale, it was great to see so many items go to new homes!
Summer Safety
With the sun now starting to make an appearance (well, sometimes), please be reminded that all children must continue to wear closed in shoes to school for health and safety reasons; sandals are not to be worn.
Please also ensure that your child has had sun cream applied before school starts and they bring a sun hat with them to protect themselves during break and lunchtimes.
Connie’s Homework For Mental Health Awareness Week
Connie produced these amazing queue cards to put in her classroom’s calm corner, to support her peers in getting themselves back to the green zone when they are feeling a range of emotions. Connie shared what her inspiration for this homework was with Miss Bienias. What an incredible ambassador for mental health Connie is!
“My inspiration for this homework was based on my own experiences, as I have learnt how to get myself back to the green zone. Sometimes when I am in the red zone, I take myself away from the situation and go to my bedroom to calm myself down or when I am in the yellow zone, I play logic games to calm myself down so I feel relaxed again and ready to learn. The affirmation cards that I made are tips for other children to support them in getting back to the green zone. Feeling lots of emotions is normal and we all have different emotions. It’s important to know how you are feeling and share that with a parent, teacher or guardian if you need to.”

Outdoor Family Camping
Would you and your family like to try out camping this summer?
Worried you can’t afford to get away? Outdoor Family Camping helps Hackney families enjoy a week-long holiday in the countryside…
For the last ten years, Outdoor People have taken families from Hackney to spend a week under canvas on a working farm in Kent.
These camping trips take place in August. You’ll join other families and learn how to pitch a tent, help feed the farm animals, pick fresh vegetables for dinner, toast marshmallows over an open fire and sleep under canvas.
If you’ve never been camping before but are willing to try, contact Outdoor People to find out more.
They will supply all the kit; all you need to bring is a sense of adventure!
As a social enterprise, they have a number of places available to families on very low incomes.
To apply, fill out this application form: https://forms.gle/XeGR6YTguBxd6T669
You could also send an email to: bethan@outdoorpeople.org.uk, call/text Tom on 07930 017 123 or pop into their community shop at 352 Mare St where you can see pictures of previous camps and chat to one of the team.
