07 Mar World Book Day 2025
The children took part in drama workshops, where they explored Judith Kerr’s classic picture book “The Tiger Who Came to Tea” through drama and role-play. They acted out key scenes, created their own versions of the story, and imagined what might have happened after the tiger left. They then went on to complete some writing in class based on this wonderful story and shared it with their reading buddy in another class.
We also paired older and younger students for a shared reading session. Older students read picture books or short stories to younger children, helping to model expressive reading and engage them in discussions about the story. This was such a wonderful activity to help build relationships across year groups but also supports reading fluency and comprehension for all pupils.
The children also had a wonderful “The Tiger Who Came to Tea” themed lunch, just as Sophie and her family do in the story!
We had such a memorable World Book Day experience and loved encouraging students to connect with stories in imaginative ways, reminding us all why reading is so magical!
