What’s happening in Year 5 – Week 5

This week in Year 5, the children have been immersing themselves in our class text Journey to the River Sea. They have been working hard to write diary entries from the perspective of Maia, capturing her exciting voyage from London to the Amazon Rainforest. Using the first-person perspective, pupils explored Maia’s thoughts and emotions through the technique of ‘show me, don’t tell me’ descriptions, creating vivid and expressive writing. They also incorporated our grammar focus of the week—subordinate clauses—to add detail and depth to their sentences. We are incredibly proud of their creativity and growing confidence as writers.
