What’s happening in Year 4 – Week 8

This week in Year 4, we have been exploring area in a fun and hands-on way! We learned how to find the area of shapes by counting squares and discovered that squares are the best shape to use because they fit together perfectly without leaving any gaps. We also practised finding the area of shapes that included half squares, learning that two halves make a whole, which helped us become even more confident in our understanding.

Once we had mastered these skills, we moved on to a creative challenge — making our own shapes with a set area. We enjoyed seeing how many different designs we could come up with and comparing them with our classmates. It was a fantastic week full of teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity as we deepened our understanding of area!
