24 Oct Spanish At SJSJ
In Year 5 this half term, the children have been developing their language skills through engagement with a familiar story, The Very Hungry Caterpillar (La Oruga Glotona).
The text has encouraged the children to ignite their prior learning, by recalling the translations for the days of the week and some food items, like manzana, naranja and fresa (apple, orange, strawberry). The children have become confident at recognising repetitive phrases from the story, like comio una manzana (he ate an apple) and tiene hambre / tiene sed (he is hungry / he is thirsty).
The story has also taught the children about basic sentence structures and they have now started to write their own simple sentences, mirroring the events of the story. Take a look at what they have been getting up to for the last few weeks!
