20 Mar Maths In The Real World
Last week, we were lucky enough to have a visit from the National Numeracy Trust, who delivered an assembly and some workshops that explored maths in the real world. During the assembly, the children thought about how they use maths in their everyday lives such as following recipes, budgeting with money and playing video games.
Year 4 and Year 5 then took part in an additional workshop, where they explored a variety of job opportunities, including hairdressers, video game designers, builders and nurses, and thought about how maths played an important part in each of them. To end the session, the children reflected on their personal interests and hobbies and discussed how maths contributes to this.
