This week across the school, we have celebrated National Storytelling Week! This year’s theme is ‘Soundtrack Your Story’, and focused on encouraging children and young people to explore narratives through sound music and rhythm.
In Key Stage 1, the children took part in an online storytelling workshop with author Annemarie Anang. They explored the story ‘I am Nefertiti’ and used variations of sounds and rhymes to bring the story to life.
In Key Stage 2, the children took part in an online workshop with rapper and storyteller Alim Kamara. The workshop used sounds, rhyme and rhythm to inspire the children to write their very own raps!
Our Reading Champions have also been busy this week; they have spent time in the mornings reading stories to our youngest learners in Nursery and Reception to foster a love of reading for pleasure in their classrooms.
