23 Jan Reading At SJSJ
Last week, the Reading Champions met up with children from other schools across the borough to discuss their upcoming plans for continuing to foster a love of reading at home and school. They also found out all about this years National Year of Reading campaign, and are very excited to get planning underway for events across the Spring and Summer terms!
The children ended their session, by taking part in a workshop with author, rapper and teacher – Christian Foley. Christian is spending a lot of time working with the Reading Champions in Hackney this year, and has kindly donated us a selection of his published books, which include titles like Babblin’ Animal Raps, Moving Up and The Oddsocktopus. These can all be found in the poetry section of the school library; enjoy at your own leisure, but please make sure that they are returned to their correct shelf!
Our current Reading Champions (Ahria & Umut, in Year 5 and Isabel & Lucia, in Year 6) will be based in the library at lunchtime every Tuesday and Thursday; they are happy to help children with AR tests, book changes or simply spend some time relaxing and reading – give them a visit!
