What’s happening in Reception – Week 3

Last week in Reception, we had a very special delivery of some tiny baby caterpillars! The children were very excited to observe them closely and talk about what they noticed. We discussed how caterpillars are the first stage in the life cycle of a butterfly. Over the next few weeks, we will carefully look after them and watch the amazing changes that happen. The children will learn that caterpillars grow bigger and bigger, then form a chrysalis. Inside the chrysalis, they transform into beautiful butterflies! When the butterflies emerge, we will observe their colours, patterns and delicate wings before releasing them into our outdoor area.
