What’s happening in Year 1 – Week 1

In maths this week, Year 1 have continued exploring and learning all about 2d and 3d shapes. They started at the beginning of the week, by using unifix cubes to make and manipulate 3d models and discuss what is similar and different about them. The children were very confident and recognising the similarities and differences in a variety of representations; they were able to match picture forms to physical representations of 3d models and vice versa. They then used their new knowledge, focusing on the properties of shapes, to find lots of 2d and 3d shapes within our school environment and had a go at sorting and categorising them in different ways.
