03 Oct What’s happening in Year 1 – Week 5
Year 1 had a wonderful day visiting the William Morris Gallery this week. The children enjoyed a guided tour where they learnt fascinating facts about William Morris and explored the beautiful patterns and designs that made him famous. They were especially interested in how Morris found inspiration in nature and used it in his work.
After the tour, the children had the chance to get creative themselves. They carefully replicated wallpaper designs in their sketchbooks, experimenting with shapes and repeating patterns. The highlight of the day was a hands-on printing workshop, where the children used real printing blocks to create their own pieces of art.
The trip was a fantastic opportunity to combine history, art and creativity, and the children returned full of enthusiasm and ideas to bring back into the classroom. A big thank you to all the adults who supported us on the trip.
