What’s happening in Year 1 – Week 5

This week in Year 1, the children explored our Word of the Week: difference. They began by sharing how they are the same to their friends and how they are different too, saying things like, “We all like different things!” and “That’s what makes us special.”

The class also enjoyed listening to the story It’s Okay to Be Different by Sharon Purtill, which helped us talk about why celebrating differences is important. The children learned that “it’s okay to be us” and that our differences help make our classroom a fun, kind, and happy place to learn together.
