03 Oct What’s happening in Year 3 – Week 5
This week in Year 3 we have been looking at the permeability of soil. We conducted a science investigation to see whether loam soil, tundra soil, chalk or sandy soil is more permeable. The children made predictions on which soil they thought would hold onto the most water. They then conducted the investigation and observed the results. They then spoke about what they observed, looking at how much water had been released and if there was any sediment lest at the bottom of the beaker. The experiment highlighted the children’s curiosity; they were very surprised by the results, which led them to generate lots of scientific questions.
