09 Jan What’s happening in Year 4 – Week 1
This week in Year 4, we were learning how to divide a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number in maths, focusing on what to do when there is a remainder. We recapped how to divide larger numbers using a place value chart and discussed what each part of a division sentence means.
We then learnt that division starts with the biggest place value and that groups must be shared equally. When this is not possible in the ones column, the amount left over is called a remainder. We practised this confidently with a partner using place value charts, drawings, and counters.
