What’s happening in Year 4 – Week 2

This week in Year 4, our classroom was full of energy as we explored all the exciting ways to represent numbers up to 1000! We started on the carpet, using pictures of Dienes blocks to practise showing numbers in digits and words, while also diving into place value to understand what each digit means in the hundreds, tens, and ones columns. Then we moved into a fun maths carousel, where some of us used Dienes and counters to build numbers, others challenged their partners with tricky place value questions, and a few rolled dice to create random numbers and represent them in different ways. It was a hands-on, collaborative lesson that helped us build our confidence while having loads of fun with numbers!
