14 Nov What’s happening in Year 5 – Week 2
Year 5 wowed everyone this week with an unforgettable assembly all about the Romans and Julius Caesar. From the moment the children stepped on stage, it was clear how much effort, creativity, and teamwork had gone into bringing this slice of history to life.
The highlight of their performance was their imaginative retelling of Boudicca’s story. Instead of ending with her defeat, the children re-imagined a powerful comeback, with Boudicca rising again to reclaim her land and lead her people to build new and wonderful things. Their confidence and storytelling held the audience captivated!
Every prop used in the assembly was designed and created by the children themselves — from Roman shields and helmets to banners and building tools. Their attention to detail was remarkable, and it added so much authenticity and charm to the performance.
To top it all off, the whole hall joined in the excitement when the children sang “We Are the Romans” with brilliant enthusiasm. Their singing filled the room and had parents smiling, tapping along, and feeling truly part of the moment.
A huge well done to all the Year 5 pupils and staff involved — your hard work and creativity shone through in every second of the performance. What an amazing achievement!
