What’s happening in Year 5 – Week 3

This week in art, Year 5 have been building on their learning about the life and work of Vincent van Gogh. Pupils put last week’s skills into practice, focusing on contour hatching and blending. They recreated two of Van Gogh’s famous still life paintings, Still Life with Pears and Still Life with Apples.

Using contour hatching, the children added depth and shadow to their artwork, while blending techniques were used to create smooth transitions of colour. The finished pieces show great care, creativity, and growing confidence in using new artistic techniques.
