17 Mar What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 4
This half term, Year 6 have been taking inspiration from Macbeth; A Shakespeare Story by Andrew Matthews and Tony Ross. Last week, the children wrote descriptions to convey the character of Lady Macbeth at different point throughout the storyline. Here is a snippet of some fantastic writing by Adil:
It seemed a long time before her husband’s return. When Macbeth arrived, she had pure outrage in her eyes. Amazed at the sight of blood on her husbands hands, Lady Macbeth was victorious – her plan worked! Her eyes, wide with enthusiasm, lit up the unilluminated room in the castle. Lady Macbeth’s jaw dropped to the ground when she saw the dagger covered in blood, which had been used to kill the King.
Year 6 rounded off their latest science unit, Animals including Humans, by exploring the impact of alcohol, medicinal drugs and caffeine on the human body.
The children were split into groups and given a focus for their research task. They then had to work together to create a short presentation about their topic, which they later delivered to their peers. The children were researching the effects and grouping them into two categories: negative and positive. After listening to each group’s presentation, the children were then able to make comparisons between the groups.
Take a look at what they found…
