What’s happening in Year 5 – Week 4

Year 5 have really been enjoying their computing lessons, where they have been learning all about coding. We are creating a programme with sequencing, loops and events. When an issue arises with our algorithm, we are learning to debug the programme using problem solving techniques.

For science week, the class have been investigating the solubility of different substances in water. We investigated how long it took salt, sugar and coffee to dissolve in water. We made our test as fair as possible by stirring our solution a certain number of times and using the same types of salt, sugar and coffee each time. We repeated our test twice to increase the reliability of our results. We found out that sugar, salt and coffee all dissolve at different rates and coffee took the longest to dissolve.
