23 Jan What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 3
This week, Year 6 had the pleasure of visiting the Fo Guang Shan London Buddhist temple, where they learnt about all the practices of the Buddhist religion, the history of the temple and the the names of the different buddhas including what they symbolise.
They were able to practice Chinese mindfulness calligraphy which were are teachings from the Buddhist faith. These teachings focused on how we should act, think and feel towards others and clean our precious gems inside us to make the world a better place.
They were also able to make some origami lotus flowers, which is an important symbol in the Buddhist faith, as it represents that in the mist of the muddy waters of life you can grow into something beautiful. It was truly an inspiring and insightful visit.
