20 Mar What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 4
This week, Year 6 had the pleasure of visiting Forest school, where they looked at the function of the lungs. They started by discussing what the lungs were, how they are important to the circularity system and why the lungs is considered a vital organ.
The children split into two groups. One group recorded their resting breathing rate and then did some exercise for 1 minute. They then recorded their breathing rate after they had stopped. They calculated the difference between their breathing rates. The other group was given a scientific diagram of the lungs, which they had to memorise in 1 minute and then they drew the scientific diagram from memory. Both groups swapped after they have completed the tasks.
The children then discussed their results and also identified how they would improve their investigation!
