What’s happening in Year 4 – Week 3

This week in STEAM, we began an exciting project where the children will be designing and making their own focaccia bread! To help them decide which ingredients they might like to include, we started with a fun taste-testing session. The children explored a range of ingredients and discussed how they could describe what they were experiencing using their senses. We talked about the different words we can use to describe taste and smell, and the children impressed us with vocabulary such as salty, strong, herby, fresh and mild.

It was fantastic to see the children being so adventurous. Many bravely tried ingredients they were unsure about at first and shared their thoughts with their classmates. There were lots of thoughtful discussions about favourite flavours and which toppings might work well on their focaccia. The children showed wonderful curiosity and enthusiasm, and they are now very excited to move on to the next step—creating and baking their very own delicious focaccia bread!
