12 Jun What’s happening in Year 4 – Week 2
This week in Year 4, we became insect experts as we explored why insects are so special and important to our world. We discovered that insects are invertebrates, meaning they do not have a backbone, and that they have an exoskeleton on the outside of their bodies. We were fascinated to learn about the unique features that help insects survive and thrive in a variety of habitats.
We also investigated the important jobs insects do in our environment. We found out how they help gardens by pollinating plants, improving soil fertility and helping to control unwanted pests. To put our learning into practice, we headed outside to the playground and carefully searched for insects in their natural habitats. It was exciting to spot a variety of mini-beasts and use our scientific observation skills to identify and discuss what we found.
