This week in Year 5, we had the pleasure of visiting the Science Museum to continue our learning on Earth and Space.
The children had an incredible time in the museum, fact-finding about lunar modules and how they leave and re-enter Earth’s atmosphere safely. We were able to look at a real space suit and how it keeps astronauts safe in Space. The children were particularly excited about seeing an actual moon rock and a piece of an asteroid, which we were able to see up close. We were lucky enough to have a hands-on experience, meeting a motorized (and very fluffy) cat, representing a real one called Felix, who was sent to Space by Russia, to observe how space would impact a similar molecular body to our own. We observed a working model of the solar system and learnt about each individual planet and their properties.
The children had an amazing time and made the school proud by showing exemplary behaviour and an inquisitive nature, which showed by their many questions on the way home.
