19 Jun What’s happening in Year 4 – Week 3
This week in Year 4, we explored the Atacama Desert, one of the hottest and driest places on Earth, located in South America. We discovered where it is found, the huge area it covers, and why it has such an extreme climate, including how the Andes Mountains affect the weather by blocking much of the breeze. We also discussed how global warming could impact the desert and explored the amazing animals that are able to survive in this challenging environment.
To bring our learning to life, we headed outside to the sand pit and used play dough to create our own desert landscapes. We enjoyed designing our own versions of the Atacama Desert, including the features and animals we had discovered, showing our creativity while applying our geography knowledge in a fun and exciting way.
