19 Jun What’s happening in Year 1 – Week 3
This week, Year 1 took their Science lesson to Forest School! The children have been learning all about plants, and this week they used their knowledge to discuss the similarities and differences between garden plants and wild plants. They discovered that both garden and wild plants share similar characteristics, like having a stem and leaves, however they are different because garden plants are usually planted and require looking after, whereas wild plants grow by themselves and in lots of places, like along the curb of a road, or up the side of a building.
Whilst at Forest School, the children used their knowledge about wild plants to to complete a classification table and also used their observational skills to identify and draw scientific diagrams of some wild plants that they found, whilst exploring the outdoor environment. The children have thoroughly enjoyed their Forest School experience this year, and hope to be able to visit again in the future!
