What’s happening in Reception – Week 6

This half term in Reception, we have been learning all about the famous artwork of sculpture and photographer, Andy Goldsworthy. We discovered that Andy is an environmentalist who likes to use natural materials to create his pieces of art.

We began by looking at some examples of Andy Goldsworthy’s artwork and discussing what parts we liked and what inspiration we would like to use in our own work. We then gathered a range of natural materials, like twigs, stones, shells, mud and sand and combined them in different ways to create our final piece. To capture the image, we used a camera and had to think carefully about the lighting and shadows that were created at different angles.
