What’s happening in Year 5 – Week 1

This week, Year 5 had the opportunity to visit St Augustine’s Tower, which is Hackney’s oldest building! We started our experience at Hackney Museum, where we learnt about the lives of Hackney residents through history, by investigating artefacts in the ‘suitcase stories’ activity. We then headed to the tower, where we climbed the spiral staircase to observe the cock mechanism in action, view Hackney and the city of London in the distance from the roof of the tower, and we were allowed to ring the bell! We loved learning about this local history.
