
14 Feb What’s happening in Year 6 – Week 6
This week, Year 6 have been finalising their balanced arguments, exploring the questions “Was Macbeth right to kill King Duncan?” in William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth.”
In order to write our fantastic arguments, we sorted statements into proposition and opposition for the statement and engaged in some oracy, debating the statement and gathering initial thoughts.
We analysed balanced arguments and ‘magpied’ formal language, causal conjunctions, modal verbs and rhetorical questions for our own writing. Our grammar focus was parenthesis, and together we punctuated sentences correctly and wrote our own sentences including punctuation for our writing. Before writing our final balanced arguments, we explored how to expand a point, using the below structure on our working wall.
