What’s happening in Year 5 – Week 2

We had a wonderful World Book Day on Thursday, it was incredible to see the huge effort everyone put into the day.

In Year 5, our World Book Day book was Jack and the Beanstalk. We had an amazing time relearning the story of this fabulous fairytale. We worked on our summarising skills by creating a storyboard of the story. Children had to summarise the story in just 6 scenes. Our next task was to interview Jack. As a class we used partner talk to come up with open ended, journalistic questions we could ask Jack and some potential replies. We then acted these interviews out in front of the class. Our last task focused on the Giant. We thought about how the Giant might feel after his hen, who lays golden eggs and his singing harp are stolen. We finished by creating a wanted poster for Jack and the Giant’s belonging to be returned.
