What’s happening in Year 1 – Week 2

In RE lessons this half term, Year 1 are learning all about the World Faith, Islam. They began the unit by exploring a range of artefacts, including a Qu’ran and a prayer mat. The children discussed what each artefact might be used for and then discussed similarities and differences between important religious symbols in other faiths, like the cross in Christianity and the Star of David in Judaism.

Throughout the half term, the children will continue to explore what it means to be a Muslim and will look specifically at the Islamic prayer regime, including the importance of the direction of prayer.
