28 Feb What’s happening in Reception – Week 1
Reception have had a fabulous first week back at school after the half term break! This week we have been focusing on small group activities that develop our fine motor skills, which will help to support the children in refining a comfortable pencil grip. As the children are beginning to write more, the muscles in their hands and fingers need strengthening to maintain a good writing pace.
Fine motor set ups are really quick and easy – this week we have enjoyed collecting water in pipettes and filling up boats, tracing patterns with car tracks, and of course, the all-time favourite was getting creative at the playdough station! Parents and carers, why not set up some of the activities at home? The more practise the children get, the better it is for supporting their fine motor development!
