What’s happening in Reception – Week 1

This half term, Reception will be learning all about plants. We will learn about the process of flowers and plants developing from a seed; we will learn how to help plants grow and we will also be thinking about how we can look after the plant and flowers in our local environments.

On Tuesday, some children from Reception got their gardening hats on with Mr. Bartek, and helped him water the flowerbeds in our school playground – they had a great time! In class, we have been reading Errol’s Garden and used some of our observational skills to paint our very own Daffodils. We have also been using our small world area to explore how plants and flowers grow and to learn about some of their key features.

Next week, we will be planting our very own herbs for our classroom herb garden, which the children are very excited about!
