To finish off our RE unit in Reception, we answered our big question: ‘What is so special about Easter?’
The children used visuals to help them retell key events from the story and discuss the importance of symbols like the cross and the stone tomb. We then thought about the importance of eggs as a symbol in the celebrations of Easter, and learned that eggs are used to symbolise the new life that was given when Jesus rose from the stone tomb on Easter Sunday. Using everything that we have learned this half term, we worked in pairs to decorate the delicate shell of boiled eggs with symbols that remind us of the Easter story.
