What’s happening in Reception – Week 7

This week, Reception introduced a new key text: Tree by Patricia Hegarty. The book introduces children to the four seasons that run throughout the year and encourages them to talk about the features of each season. The changing cycle of a tree helps the children to visualise the changes that it experiences within a year.

To help the children understand a little more about these changes, they took their learning outside and observed what is happening to the trees in our school playground. The children used their senses to describe what they saw and came up with a great bank of vocabulary that can be used next week when learning more about the season of Autumn.
