What’s happening in Year 3 – Week 1

During our new topic this term in PSHE, this week we discussed the different roles and responsibilities of each member of our family and reflected on the expectations for male and females. We talked about the word responsibility and described what it felt like to take responsibility in our family.  The children went onto sort different statements into male and female or unisex categories, as a result of this the children could see that most roles and responsibilities could be done by both genders.  This linked to Article 15 because sometimes people think certain activities are only for boys or only for girls. These are called gender stereotypes, and they can stop children from being themselves. Article 15 reminds us that this isn’t fair.
