05 May What’s happening in Year 3 – Week 3
Year 3 have been writing character descriptions of the Amazon Rainforest, based on the text The Great Kapok Tree. They used a range of sentence starters to create powerful descriptions and changed the tone of each paragraph between positive and negative.
Carelessly marching in the humid rainforest, two men pointed to the ancient kapok tree and one man left. As the sun blazed, the man angrily snatched his wooden axe from the ground and started chopping. While he worked, sweat dripped everywhere on his body – Ayah
While the sun went to bed, a cluster of colour illuminated the night sky. The butterflies majestically fluttered around the man like a galaxy surrounding planets. Then, the colour froze as they looked at the man – Rupert
The class had a fantastic week using globes and atlases to locate rainforests in the world in their geography lessons. We enjoyed using a variety of resources to help us locate rainforests and made connections between their locations and their climates.
