17 Apr What’s happening in Year 4 – Week 1
This half term, we are excited to be learning all about Sound. To begin, we took part in fun and engaging activities to revisit our prior knowledge and explore new ideas. We discussed where we hear sound and identified everyday objects that produce it, realising that sound is all around us in our homes, school and local environment. We also made great connections to our previous learning about the human body, recognising how our sense of hearing helps us detect and understand sounds.
We are now looking forward to building on this knowledge by learning how sound is made through vibrations, how it travels through different materials, and how we can change sounds by adjusting their volume and pitch. We especially enjoyed exploring musical instruments and thinking about how sound is used in real-life jobs, such as musicians and reporters. To finish, we created a fantastic mind map to organise our ideas and get ready for the exciting learning ahead.
