06 May What’s happening in Year 4 – Week 3
This term in humanities Year 4 are learning all about The Americas! The children will be developing their geographical knowledge of the world by exploring the continents of North and South America. They will then use all prior and new learning to make comparisons between the United Kingdom and the Amazon Rainforest.
Over the last few lessons, the children have been conducting some fieldwork in Hackney to get to know the local area really well. They have used digital maps to explore building and land use, and mapped out a route for a local area walk. Whilst out and about in Hackney, the children made notes about the different types of features that they came across and then used these to sort the physical and human geography that is in our local area. Despite having walked up and down the same roads for many years, lots of the children spotted buildings and details that they have missed, like the former Police Station now being reformed into a new school building for the Olive School.
