24 Jun What’s happening in Year 4 – Week 3
Earlier today, Year 4 took part in a sound workshop, where they combined their scientific understanding of the sense of hearing, with some of their artistic skills to create beautiful pieces of art. The session started with the children thinking about the everyday sounds that surround them and explained which of these they liked and disliked. They then went on to think about the different sounds that can be made with a range of instruments and thought about how waves, patterns and emotions can be reflected through the use of media. Finally, the children combined poetry, music and art to create sound sculptures of the sun, thinking carefully about the drawing of its sound patterns.
They had a fantastic morning and really enjoyed having the opportunity to use their bodies to move, ears to listen and hands to draw a variety of patterns that reflected their thoughts.
